The Department of Ophthalmology, Visual and Anatomical Sciences is organizing its 13th Annual Vision Research Workshop on October 21, 2026, to highlight the research accomplishments of our graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, research assistants and associates, medical students, and ophthalmology residents.
The goal of this workshop is to provide an outstanding opportunity for members of the Wayne State University vision research community to interact with one another, exchange ideas, showcase innovative research, and foster future collaborations.
The workshop will feature the Linda D. Hazlett Vision Science Mentorship & Innovation Lecture, celebrating the critical role of mentorship, innovation, and scientific discovery in advancing vision research and developing the next generation of vision scientists.
At this time, abstracts are being solicited from trainees within the Department of Ophthalmology, Visual and Anatomical Sciences. Presentations will be judged by Wayne State University faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students. Prizes for the top presentations will be awarded based on scientific content and significance, clarity of presentation, and ability to address questions.
Participants are also encouraged to submit an image from their work for consideration as the workshop cover image. The selected image will be featured in workshop materials and recognized with a special award.
