Dr. Iezzi received his medical degree from New York Medical College and holds an advanced degree in biomedical engineering from Rutgers University. He trained in Vitreoretinal Surgery at Kresge after completing his residency at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. His clinical interests are in medical and surgical as well as retinal degenerative diseases of the retina. His specialties are diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment surgery, proliferative vitreoretinopathy, and uveitis. His research interests have focused on low vision enhancement, advanced retinal imaging using the Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscope, Optical Coherence Tomography system, and 3-D ultrasound as well as artificially implanted devices. As Scientific Director of the Ligon Research Center of Vision, Dr. Iezzi has been conducting research on all aspects of visual prosthesis design, including surgical implantation and electrophysiological testing.
